Why do astronauts wear space suits?

Above the Earth’s atmosphere there is not only the absence of air. The absence of air means it is a total vacuum that would cause any air in the body including that dissolved in blood and tissues to rapidly boil off causing rapid death. This demands that astronaut space suits surround the whole body and maintain suitable air pressure, oxygen for breathing, water for drinking, protection from unfiltered solar radiation, and necessary communication devices.
