Here is an animated video that illustrates how solids, liquids, and gases are all comprised of particles. Emphasize how the distinction is not in their particulate nature; it is in how particles adhere together–tightly, loosely, or not at all. (The last part of the video, which gets into different sorts of mixtures can be ignored.) Please post questions kids ask.
