Do-it-yourself ant farms are easy to assemble; ants can be collected from your backyard; kids are fascinated watching them, and they can lead into any number of additional lessons e.g. animal needs, adaptations, habitats, ecology, etc. For directions/videos Google: “ant farm do it yourself”.
