The following video describes key steps from pollination of a flower to development of seeds within a fruit.
Have kids particularly note that the pollen grain gives rise to sperm cells (1N). Within the ovules, egg cells (1N) are formed. Fertilization occurs as the pollen tube release a sperm adjacent to the egg.
Carefully dissect the ovary of a lily flower and find the tiny egg-like things. These are the ovules, which on fertilization will develop into seeds. Such a dissection is shown here.
Discuss the similarities/differences between plant and animal life cycles.
