Why are rainforests located in a band about the equator with deserts above and below? Have student use a world map showing biomes (above) and observe this distribution of rain forests and deserts. Observe the climate graphs for the two regions. Consider why the extreme difference in rainfall occurs. The explanation is given in the following video:
