Where metals come from–mineral to metal

With magnet in hand have kids note how many things are made of iron (steel)–kitchen utensils and appliances, tools, nails and screws, auto parts, to heavy machinery, and structural beams. Where does iron/steel come from? Iron atoms are found in various minerals (referred to as ores). The multiple steps from mining the ore to making finished products are shown in the following video.
